New Teacher, New Complications!

Writing after so many days, months, or should I say a year to be precise. The credit of this initiation to write can be given to my English teacher, you wants us to do free writing without holding back. See that's the thing about English teachers, they are the best.

Talking of teachers, we were introduced to our new teacher today. SS,who will be teaching us "Introduction to International Relations " paper for this semester. The teacher who used to teacher us this paper, previously got through UPSC, Civil services and has left her job to join the coveted civil services. She was undoubtedly a great teacher. This can be one of the why we are biased.
Talking of the new teacher, she appears just like our previous teacher. Miss Smita has done here post graduation from JNU in Political Science (IR) and M.Phil from the same university, and right now she is pursuing her PHD.
MA in IR from JNU is something which we as a student of Political Science in India, want to pursue. Its a very lucrative. So this is a plus point for Miss Smita.

Miss S announced in her first class today that she is going to take presentations on the syllabus topic in GROUPS !! There's nothing wrong with presentations but everything is wrong with groups. This is because of the a simple reason which I would like to explain now.
In a class to 36, there students who are brilliant, mediocre and some of them are bound to be, for the lack of better word, dumb and uninterested in studies. The friend circle which you are a part of is obviously your kind of people. So the so called 'intelligent' ones are friends with intelligent and the mediocre with mediocre and so on.
Now this brings us to my problem. I've always been an above average student, but my friends have always stood lower than me on the academics ladder.  Today we were supposed to make a group of six. If I opted to remain with my friends then I was the on who would have to bear the burden of carrying them forward.
An opportunity was presented to me, a group of students (good in academics) who are also my friends offered me to be a part of their group and I said yes.
Is this right? One of my friends is upset with me so simple told her that its not my responsibility to take care of her, she has to learn to fend for herself.
Its not about doing the right thing, or the wrong thing, its the in between. Its the grey area.

So instead to blaming myself or my friends, I would say the teacher should have made the group roll number wise.
