Have you ever felt mature beyond your age? If you did then you can easily understand what I am going to say next. It turns out that today on 11 January 2012, I realized that life is so much more than a facebook status, cranky roommates, your social status or your clothes.
It started as any other working day. I woke up almost late but managed to get ready for college in time, concerned about my diet, tried to eat less break fast as it was besan ka chila but liked to so I ate it anyway. Dissappointed by my low performance in Pol Sci and History class, got back to pg and started my laptop.
As i made a mental note to google Manju Rajpal (IAS officer) yesterday, I googled her trying to find out what were her educational qualifications. Got dissappointed when her qualifications turned out to be BA and then MA in Econimics. I again wished I had got Eco Hons. Economics to me looks like a subject that runs the country. Really, Look at engineering it nothing but learning about machines and chemical formulas and other scince stuff. But Eco, well it comrises of how a country runs, lke how foreign companies invest in a country, how it generated employment. Even the prime minister of our country is an Economist.
So lets go back to the main topic, while googling Manju Rajpal, I found an artice in TOI about her. In brief the artice said- She stood for right against illegal happenings in the city she was administering and this action of her was regared as over enthusiastic and child on her behalf and she was suspended for that. But the reality was that the higher officers and politicians were inviolved in that illegal selling of wheat which was for drought people and they didnt like MAju Rajpal's interference in that matter.
After reading this artical, it made me rethink my decision to become an IAS officer. Is this really something that I want to do, do I want to send my life not being able to fight for what is right just because of the fear of being suspended. My parents encouraged me to prepare for Civil services since I was 10 years old . They tell me its the best job, well actually as best as we can get, but they never mentioned the cons. After a littlr thinking over this matter I realized yes despite of the cons I do wannna be an IAS officer, because the journey will be great.
